Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano undercard: Who will fight ahead of historic main event at ...

Inside The World’s Most Famous Arena in New York City on April 30, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano will make history. Fighting for Taylor’s WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring lightweight titles, Serrano is looking to add more gold to her impressive resume. They won’t be the only boxers competing inside Madison Square Garden that Saturday.

While we know of additional title fights and veterans who will be fighting below Taylor and Serrano, the rest of the card is shaping up nicely. Olympic medalists will be making their U.S. debut, while some of the top young female boxers out there will join in on the action, as well.

Making his U.S. debut, Galal Yafai will face off against Miguel Cartagena. Yafai is a 2020 Olympic gold medalist who signed with Matchroom Boxing back in early 2022. A gold medalist in the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Yafai won his pro debut in February against Carlos Vado Bautista for the WBC International flyweight title.

“Boxing at such an iconic venue in just my second fight is a massive box ticked for me and I’m looking to impress in front of an American audience and all around the world on DAZN, Yafai said in a release. “Miguel Cartagena is another opponent that will be coming to win on home soil, but I’ll be keeping hold of my belt with a stylish win and to show people how good I am.”

Yafai defends the title against Miguel Cartagena, who is on a two-fight win streak.

The first Australian female fighter to step inside Madison Square Garden will be Skye Nicolson. A 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medalist, Nicolson made her pro debut this past March. She fought twice in the month, beating Jessica Juarez and Bec Connolly.

“It’s an honor for me to not only fight on this historic card but also to become one of the few Australians to fight at the Mecca of boxing, Madison Square Garden, and the first female,” said Nicolson. “This is a game-changing moment for Women’s boxing and I’m so grateful for this opportunity to feature on this show.

She faces Shanecqua Paisley Davis, who is 3-1 in her career. The 31-year-old won her last fight in October against Rebecca Light.

Other fights on the card include:

  • Austin Williams (10-0), who won his last fight in February via TKO, faces off against Chordale Booker (17-0), who won his last bout in September via unanimous decision.
  •  Reshat Mati (11-0) vs. Joe Eli Hernandez (12-1)
  • Khalil Coe (2-0-1) vs. William Langston (6-2)
