Slow plows working non-stop to clear roads after winter storm - WEEK

PEORIA (25 NEWS) -- After a large winter storm dropped inches of snow in Central Illinois, snow plows are working non-stop to clear roads across the area.

Peoria Public Works says their 17 plows will keep running nonstop throughout the storm. Deputy Director of Operations Sie Maroon says if you see a plow, you should move over and let it do its job.

“We just continue to run, run the route over and over keeping the plow down, and just keep pushing snow,” Maroon said. “The residential streets are really going to take a hard hit from this particular storm because it’s going to be a while before we can get into them.”

Maroon says they are focusing on main roads during the storm and will move to residential streets once the storm is over. He says this process can take hours and even days. However, the snow pack on roads should make driving somewhat more manageable before plows come through,
