WWE Hall Of Famer Mark Henry Confirms That He's Done With In-Ring Action - Sportzwiki

Earlier this year, a lot of WWE talents ended up arriving in the All Elite Wrestling promotion and Mark Henry was amongst them. The legendary wrestler was one of the most surprising names to arrive at the AEW brand given that he was considered to be a WWE lifer.

Before signing with AEW, Mark Henry spoke with Booker T on the latter’s podcast and revealed that he wanted to have one more match in WWE before retiring. In fact, he shredded 80 lbs of weight to almost confirm that his in-ring return was going to happen in AEW in the future,

“Well, it’s definitely gonna happen in AEW. It’s not gonna be anytime soon I think. I want to be a 100%. I’m still nursing injuries from 4 years ago. Like, wrestling business is a tough business, it’s not meant for everybody.

Um, being in my home state it’ll be cool to be able to do that but just not this current time. I’m here in Austin, can’t wait to get to Garland, three-hour drive.”

However, it appears that after signing with AEW, Mark Henry changed his stance, saying his last match would not happen in AEW. He was asked about the context by i95’s Large Dave whether if he’d love to get back in the ring. In return, the WWE Hall of Famer had the following to offer,

“HA HA HA HA HA HA! I mean, Man, you made me laugh, I’m not getting back in there! If somebody hits me, I’m callin’ the police!”

If Mark Henry does not want to step into the ring, ever again then his last match would be his appearance in WWE’s 50-man Greatest Royal Rumble in April of 2018 where he performed in the 50-man Rumble match. The match was won by Braun Strowman in Saudi Arabia. His last singles match was against Strowman, whom he lost to on a February 2017 episode of WWE Raw.

During this exclusive interview with i95’s Large Dave, Mark Henry also opened up about his role with AEW and mentioned himself as a jack of all trades who likes on taking various responsibilities in the company,

“Man, I am a Jack of all Trades, I’ve been blessed to be able to master a few of them, I’m new to the announcing, and the backstage announcing, but I’m doing pretty good, and I’m enjoying doing it, but I’m most proud of being a part of our community team. To touch all of the members and fans of the communities that we go into, before we do our shows, that’s something special, we leave the place better than we found it.”

The 50-year-old originally joined AEW this past May during AEW Double or Nothing. Then while speaking with Chris Jericho, he revealed why he decided to leave the WWE after spending decades with the company. At that point, he wasn’t willing to work with Vince McMahon, behind the scenes.
