Teofimo Lopez predicts Kambosos lasts “One round, he's too small” - Boxing News

By Allan Fox: Teofimo Lopez is predicting a first round knockout of George Kambosis Jr in an easy defense of his IBF, WBA, WBC Franchise & WBO lightweight titles this Saturday night on DAZN. Teofimo and the unbeaten Australian Kambosos are headlining on November 27th at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Teofimo (16-0, 12 KOs) says somebody should have told Kambosos Jr. (19-0, 10 KOs) that he’s too small for the 135-lb division and that he needs to move down to 130 to campaign at super featherweight. Teo feels that Kambosos would be better off at 130.

Interestingly, Teofimo sounds like he’s serious about Kambosos needing to move down in weight to super featherweight. Teo sounds like he wants to help Kambosos rather than someone trash-talking an opponent.

Teofimo’s thoughts on Kambosos’ lack of size for the 135-lb division are echoed by a lot of people, as they feel the Australian is too small to fight at lightweight, which is why he lacks punching power.

If he moved down in weight to 130, he would be better off in the long run.

One round, he’s too small,” said Teofimo Lopez to iFL TV on his first round knockout prediction of George Kambosos. “People didn’t tell this kid that he’s a 130-pounder. He’s NOT a 135-pounder.

“I can see it in his body,” Teofimo continued. “He’s better off at 130 than 135.”

If Kambosos uses his normal high-volume punch attack on Saturday night as he usually does in his fights, he’s going to get caught right away in the first round with something big from Teofimo.

For Kambosos’ sake, he needs to be tactical and pick his spots because he’s going to get hurt if he stands in front of Teofimo trying to throw 100 punches per round in hopes of wearing him down. That would be an approach that is doomed for failure by Kambosos.

“He ain’t ready for this,” said Teofimo. “I’m going to show this boy. If it ain’t nobody that learned, it’s going to be him. F*** him, I don’t like him at all,” said Teofimo when asked what his feelings are about Kambosos.

“I’m thankful of being on a platform like this. Whoever they put in front of me, I beat them. My contract with ESPN is for two years, and I get three fights a year.

“I’m looking forward to getting this guy out on Saturday night so I can focus on what’s in store for early next year,” said Teofimo. At this point in the interview, Teofimo had to break away after his father Lopez Sr. got involved in a heated altercation with Team Kambosos.

“We ain’t f**** fooling around here. It’s that tension. This isn’t a show. We’re really doing this,” said Teofimo.
