All Elite Wrestling star Cody Rhodes has quit Twitter and deactivated his account due to ‘sniping and negativity’.

The AEW wrestler, who previously worked for WWE before leaving in 2016 and then launched the rival promotion three years later, insisted he doesn’t ‘get mad’ by trolling from fans but he doesn’t want to deal with it anymore.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, he recently said: ‘I don’t even get mad when people – even when they drop “WWE reject” out there, I don’t even get mad.

‘Yesterday was my last day on Twitter ’cause of the amount of sniping and negativity on there. I just moved everything over to my Instagram. But I don’t even get mad at it ’cause they had X amount of years, two decades, where that was the only product.’

Fans noticed on Monday night that Cody has indeed shut down his profile, while his Instagram remains online and active.

It’s not the first time the son of the late, great Dusty Rhodes has blasted the negative side of social media, although he previously said he would ‘highlight the positive and good stuff’ rather than walk away.

He told TV Insider: ‘I try to reward the positive nature of social media because there is something good to it. I don’t want to get into the toxicity of it, but I do know I’m going to keep moving forward and climbing the ladder.

‘And if that offends anyone, then you will continue to be offended. There are a lot of do-nothing types that dominate the social space. They can kiss my ass because the ladder is there for me to climb.

‘Mediocrity loves company, which is really what social media has become. That’s why I try to highlight the positive and the good stuff you see. It’s way easier than calling it quits there.’

Cody appeared at Saturday’s Full Gear event as he teamed with PAC in a winning effort against Malakai Black and Andrade El Idolo.

Elsewhere on the show, CM Punk beat Eddie Kingston in an all-out war, Bryan Danielson overcame Miro in the Title Eliminator Tournament final and the team of Christian Cage, Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy beat Adam Cole and The Young Bucks.

In an emotional main event, ‘Hangman’ Adam Page defeated Kenny Omega to become AEW World Champion for the first time.
