Many fans believe that there is a deep hatred between AEW and WWE, certainly because of the two companies that repeatedly shot each other during the Wednesday Night War.

But, it’s not that black and white. In fact, AEW executive vice president Cody Rhodes told Inside The Ropes that Triple H was his favorite wrestler and a role model for him for how he would wrestle and work in the office.

Rhodes revealed all about his feelings for Triple H

“So I’m not sure if I should share this, but at some point it’s going to come out of my chest: Triple H is probably my favorite wrestler and was a role model,” Rhodes revealed.

“I only watched from a distance, but he reminded me a lot of my dad in the sense that I watched him do all the work, be that executive, then go out – and he was only part-time. for the most part other than when I started and had this run with him, Teddy and Shawn.

“He was really a role model in terms of ‘OK you can do both, you can do both, but you have to be really disciplined. You have to take him very seriously.

“And it doesn’t make many friends when you’re the Hermione Granger of the company, and you take it so seriously and are just a little bookworm.”

Many fans will be surprised by the admission of the very first TNT champion due to the symbolic rupture of the throne during AEW’s very first event, Double or Nothing. However, that was a statement for AEW as opposed to a message to Triple H personally.

“I think I wanted to make a statement about what we were doing, and I think what we did was clearly the biggest statement we could make,” Rhodes recalls. “After, you know, I get really long.

“Sometimes I say the wrong thing and in that executive role I put my foot in my mouth so many times when when I was a talent I could get away with it. Talents can lie. Talents can be overkill. When you are in the leadership, you are held accountable, which is a lesson for me to learn.

“But, yeah, I wanted to be clear on what we were doing. You mentioned the spikes back and forth – that’s part of what we do. Trash talk is part of what we do, but also when they counter-programmed us for no other reason than to divide our audience, I didn’t want to run into that in a cowardly fashion.

“I wanted to say bluntly, ‘OK, well, great. Our show is going to be even better and as crazy as it is we are going to win. So if you want to have that moment in time on Wednesday nights where we all put our eyes on the fight, we’re going to win.

“I don’t want to fight with the idea that we’re going to lose. I’m face to face in the business on so many things, so I wanted to go out there and let them know I’m ready to fight.

“I’m ready to openly break this iconic symbol, and what it stood for and represents to some fans. Yeah, there’s so much going on right now. This might be my favorite moment.

“So I will never regret that moment because when I turned to go back up the ramp, everyone in the building knew what we were going to do and everyone wanted us to do it, and we did, and we wanted to make a statement, so it was a statement.

AEW has been on fire lately and regularly attracts over a million viewers.

With CM Punk and Daniel Bryan signing rumors looming, the company continues to soar.
