Jaime Munguia wants the knockout against Kamil Szeremeta

After a number of twists and turns, the exciting Mexican finally returns tonight to continue his climb up the middleweight charts.

Jaime Munguia admitted the numerous changes to his fight date and opponent have led to him putting in a huge amount of hours at training camp, and now he plans to convert that hard work and preparation into a champagne performance on Saturday vs. Kamil Szeremeta.

Originally slated to meet Maciej Sulecki earlier this year, the fight was postponed and then ultimately replaced with Sulecki's Polish compatriot Szeremeta, who last time out suffered his only pro defeat so far against the great Gennadiy Golovkin in December. D’Mitrius Ballard was also in line for the fight at one stage.

Munguia, who is 36-0 at the age of 24 and last competed in October with a win over Tureano Johnson, told Boxing Scene that the extra work put in over the last few months will lead to fireworks in El Paso.

“All I’ve been doing is working and training,” Munguia admitted during fight week. “For this fight alone, we wound up in camp for like 14-15 weeks. It was a long and tiring process but it’s always worth it.

“I’m going to look to really fight with [Szeremeta]. I want that knockout finish, I want to deliver for my fans."

Munguia is a former world light-middleweight champ but he is aware that he has to keep moving up through the gears if he is to achieve similar success at 160lbs.

“We are on the rise and it means we have to keep doing things better each fight," he said. "We have to raise our game from the last fight. We have a great opponent in front of us in Kamil Szeremeta. All of my focus is on beating him. I am not looking past him.

“I expect an opponent who will give 100% and I have prepared at 100%. What I can guarantee is that I will deliver a tremendous performance and put on a great show for all of my fans.”
