Update on Paige's WWE in-ring future

Update on Paige's WWE in-ring future

In the course of her experience as a wrestler and also as a manager in WWE, the wrestler Paige has certainly achieved great results and is remembered as one of the most iconic figures in WWE history, inspiring many girls to enter this world.

During a discussion with Renée Paquette on the usual podcast Oral Sessions, Paige recounted a very delicate situation regarding one of the most special nights of her career, the night she won the inaugural title of NXT Women's Champion.

From 2012 to 2014 Paige had a fundamental role in the yellow and black brand where she defeated several high-level superstars such as Sasha Banks, Summer Rae and Alicia Fox. Her highlight at NXT came when Paige managed to win the inaugural women's title match against Tanille Dashwood (she was just Emma at the time).

Paige's belt lasted a whopping 308 days and would have lasted even longer if he hadn't been stripped of the title.

Paige's dream WWE opponent

Paige was forced to retire from wrestling in 2018 due to a serious neck injury.

The girl in the course of the podcast, however, returned to that night telling how she risked not winning the title. Here are her words: "I remember the day I won the NXT women's title for the first time. I had a cyst on my ovaries and there was the possibility that I could not play the match, in the end luckily Hunter authorized me but I often think about what would have happened if they had not given me this chance, I always thank that doctor in my mind..."

The WWE Universe still has the hope that the wrestler can return to the ring even if it was Paige herself who admitted to being frightened by her possible return to the ring, also by the possible risks with the wrestler who in the past admitted she was also afraid of a paralysis.

Paige said she does not have any issues with her neck right now. She is set to receive a check-up soon which will give her an indication of how much progress she has made. Paige faced almost every top female WWE Superstar from 2011 to 2017, including The Bella Twins, Bayley, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Sasha Banks.

If she does return, Paige said she wants to wrestle Beth Phoenix for the first time. Phoenix made her WWE in-ring return after a five-year absence in January 2018, one month after Paige’s final match. Phoenix currently commentates on NXT alongside Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett. She last competed in a match in the 2020 WWE Women's Royal Rumble.
