Major League Soccer on DAZN: How to watch, live stream MLS matches in Canada

The start to the 2021 MLS season was delayed as the world still deals with the COVID-19 pandemic, although it appears as if this year's campaign will be more complete than it was in 2020.

Last year, the league got through two matchdays before shutting down for several months as the coronavirus put everything on hiatus. A "bubble" tournament — known as "MLS is Back" — was then created in Orlando, of which the group stage doubled as regular-season games. From there, MLS played out the rest of the campaign in the teams' home markets — with the notable exception of thre three Canadian sides, who faced off against each other in Canada for six weeks before heading stateside to finish the season as border closures and manadatory quarantines didn't allow for rapid criss-crossing between the two countries.

Those border restrictions are still in place for the start of the 2021 season, meaning the Canadian teams have all set up shop south of the 49th parallel. There's hope that they'll be able to finish the campaign on home soil, especially as this season's start is six weeks later than usual, but the Vancouver Whitecaps, Toronto FC and Club de Foot Montreal (formerly the Impact) will be disadvantaged for at least the early stages of 2021.

Elsewhere in the league, the Columbus Crew look to defend their MLS Cup title as one of the most-complete teams in the leage, while Supporters' Shield holders Philadelphia Union will aim to once again reign supreme in the regular season while transitioning to a playoff threat in the fall.

Here's everything you need to know about MLS as it heads into the opening matchday of the season.
