Two teams intending to contend in the American League West this season will square off Thursday night as part of Major League Baseball’s Opening Day.

The Oakland Athletics are scheduled to host the Houston Astros at 10 p.m. ET April on ESPN. For those who don’t have a cable package, several streaming services carry the channel and offer free trials.

Astros right-hander Zack Greinke and A’s right-hander Chris Bassitt are expected to the mound for a top-tier pitching matchup. And both aces can try to give their teams an early upper hand in what’s expected to be a competitive division rave.

Houston has reached the American League Championship Series in four straight seasons and the roster still contains many of the stars who’ve served at the heart of the recent success, like second baseman Jose Altuve, shortstop Carlos Correa and third baseman Alex Bregman.

Oakland has qualified for the playoffs the past three seasons and added experienced players this offseason with hopes of climbing past another hope to get to the World Series. The A’s traded for shortstop Elvis Andrus and bulked up the bullpen’s strength by signing Trevor Rosenthal and Sergio Romo.

First baseman Mitch Moreland also joined the Athletics this season with hopes of supplying more power to the lineup. Oakland hopes it has enough oomph to rise above Houston and other challengers in the American League.

To watch this game and other matchups on the diamond throughout Opening Week, consider signing up for a free trial to fuboTV or Hulu Live TV.
