The Cubs (4-5) took two of three games from the Brewers (5-4) in a series in Chicago last week. But they’ll take to the road this time and will face the one pitcher who thwarted them at Wrigley Field.

Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta, who began the season expecting to serve as a relief pitcher, made his first start against the Cubs on Tuesday and pitched five scoreless innings in a 4-0 victory. Peralta is scheduled to be back on the mound Monday and will counter Chicago right-hander Adbert Alzolay once again.

Alzolay also made his first start Tuesday and could not keep pace with Peralta, giving up four runs over five innings. Brewers third baseman Travis Shaw and catcher Omar Narvaez hit home runs off Alzolay to push Milwaukee to its only win in that series.

Monday’s game opens another three-game set for the NL Central rivals, who both made the playoffs last season and would like to return in 2021.
