Update On Erick Rowan's Potential Contract Status With AEW

The moment former WWE Superstar Erick Rowan showed up at the Brodie Lee tribute show in AEW, fans were wondering if he was sticking around, or if his appearance was just a one-time deal?

It was an emotional moment that made a lot of sense for that show considering Rowan and Lee's history as former tag team partners and real-life friends. If it were to lead to Rowan -- now known as Erick Redbeard -- coming in, few fans would probably be surprised. And, considering Rowan has said in previous interviews since leaving WWE that he's purposely steered clear of where Lee had gone just to give his friend some space, with Lee now gone, it would technically open the door to Rowan coming in.

Could Redbeard join AEW? Technically, yes. But, as per the Wrestling Observer, it’s believed he has not signed any sort of deal with the company and that his appearance was indeed, solely a one-and-done affair. He was simply there to pay tribute to his friend and there were no other conversations about him joining the roster on a more regular basis.

For now Rowan remains a free agent.

Don't Be Surprised If Things Change

While the future of the Dark Order group is certainly unclear and members like Evil Uno have said they're not entirely sure what comes next, RedBeard would be one option if the group was ever looking at finding a new leader or personality to join.

He is free and clear to sign with AEW and there's not been a lot of talk about where Redbeard will wind up. It would be logical to assume that he's looking for work.

If Rowan never shows up again in AEW, his appearance will be fondly remembered on a very touching show. If AEW feels there's a spot for him, is there a more obvious idea than for Tony Khan to see if Rowan has any interest?
