Portland Trail Blazers at Golden State Warriors: Live updates, time, TV channel, how to watch free ...

The Portland Trail Blazers should have every reason to believe they are better than these Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors appeared ready to return to contender status this season before All-Star guard Klay Thompson was lost for the season with an Achilles injury. Now, even with Stephen Curry back in the lineup after missing most of last season, the Warriors (2-2) more resemble a fringe playoff team trying to find itself.

The Blazers (2-2) have more going for them right now. More continuity. More stability. More depth. Still, Curry remains capable of returning to his MVP form. Forward Draymond Green is expected to return Friday to resume his role as the ultimate glue guy at both ends of the floor. And rookie center James Wiseman is giving Golden State a dimension it has always lacked. A young, athletic and hungry big man.

Portland has a chance this weekend to put its foot down on Golden State. If the Blazers are to become true contenders, they should be able to handle this Warriors team and take both games this weekend.

Portland sitting at .500 right now is acceptable given its schedule (Utah, Houston, Lakers, Clippers). But a team with high-end aspirations returns from the Bay Area at 4-2.

Just an opinion.

Be sure to check back later and during the game for updates.

GARY TRENT JR. STILL OUT

Blazers guard Gary Trent Jr. (calf) will not play Friday at the Warriors, coach Terry Stotts announced at about 6 p.m.
