Golovkin-Szeremeta official for December

Golovkin will be looking to make a record 21st defense of a world 160-pound crown, in his first action since his enormous battle with Sergiy Derevyanchenko last October at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The unbeaten Szeremeta is the mandatory challenger for Golovkin, of Kazakhstan.

"This is not just any fight. It is a fight with great meaning", Golovkin said this week.

This will be Golovkin's third fight as part of a three-year, six-fight deal with DAZN.

Golovkin (40-1-1) has not fought since a close, unanimous-decision win over Sergiy Derevyanchenko to win the IBF and IBO middleweight titles on October 5, 2019.

"The goal - fighting for a record twenty-first successful world title defense".

Szeremeta (21-0) fought on that GGG-Derevyanchenko card in 2019, beating Oscar Cortes via second-round TKO.

BOXING CHAMPION GENNADY Golovkin will face Kamil Szeremeta next month in Florida in a middleweight title bout originally scheduled for February but postponed due to the coronavirus.

"Thank you for the great chance, I must take my opportunity to be the first world middleweight champion from Poland".

That fight came just over a year after Golovkin lost the WBA, WBC and IBO titles in his September 2018 rematch with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, the 38-year-old's first loss of his career.

"GGG is looking to make history this December on DAZN in front of a worldwide audience", said DAZN EVP Joseph Markowski.
