Devin Haney vs. Yuriorkis Gamboa live updates, results and highlights from the full card

Gervonta Davis disposed of Yuriorkis Gamboa with a 12th-round TKO last December. Perhaps Devin Haney could make a statement in the lightweight division by defeating Gamboa quicker Saturday night.

Haney will put his WBC title on the line against Gamboa Yuriorkis at the Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, live on DAZN. This will mark the second title defense for Haney, who hasn't fought since November 2019, when he scored a unanimous decision over Alfredo Santiago. Haney had shoulder surgery shortly after the bout and has had plenty of time to recover, as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic wiped out some of his plans for fights earlier in the year.

Now, days shy of turning just 22, "The Dream" can't wait to return to the ring. And Haney (24-0, 15 KOs) vows to not make the mistake of taking Gamboa lightly.

“Yuriokis Gamboa is a dangerous and experienced fighter,” Haney said. “He’s a former unified world champion, and he has been in the ring with some of the best. He hurt Terence Crawford with a big shot, so his power is not to be ignored. He beat Orlando Salido who beat Vasiliy Lomachenko. Less than a year ago he took Gervonta Davis into the 12th round, something no one has ever been able to do. Gamboa is a true warrior and I’m not taking him lightly.

"I’ve called out all the top names, and I finally got someone who will challenge me for my title," he continued. "I intend on making a statement in this fight. My hunger is on another level. It’s time to show the world who the best fighter in boxing is and that’s me!”

While the likes of newly-crowned unified world lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez Jr., Davis, the WBA (Regular) lightweight titleholder, and Ryan Garcia have plenty to say about that within the division, there's no doubting Haney's pure boxing skills. That being said, Gamboa will be eyeing the upset that he didn't get against Davis. Gamboa, too, is coming off a surgery — his to repair the torn Achilles he suffered against Davis.

Will Haney make the statement that he craves or will the 38-year-old Gamboa prove that he still has plenty to offer the sweet science?
